One of the oddest and beautiful movies I've ever seen
it's call Buddha Collapsed out of Shame (2007), by Iranian
young director, Hana Makhmalbaf.
The movie talks about a six year old little girl call Baktay, who
fights for an education in a society where women are not equal, in many aspect,
to men. Motive after saw her neighbor reading the alphabet, Baktay –who have to
take care his little sister while the mother go to work- has to sell 4 eggs to
buy a notebook and a pencil. However, her journey became into an odyssey when
the eggs fell out and a group of boys hostage her, ussing the methods of
American forces who fight againts talibans.
I saw the film in 2010 and immediately became one of
my favorite movie of all time, not just for the plot but also the way how the
director treats the subject, make use of minimal resources to treat such
a huge issue and dazzle by the bizarre and challenging context. Consequently, I
recommend the movie to understand the important of equal rights and the power
of a minimal story with a very impressive script can be better then superheroes
and Hollywood’s movies.
